SQA Online Resource Center

Who Benefits?

Most small to medium-size enterprises (SME's) do not have the resources to pursue the Baldrige Award. In this way, SQA is the recognition program for "the rest of us." Over the years, as the SQA selection process assists organizations in implementing more eco-quality practices, we establish community standards, build awareness and support for long-term eco-management, waste reduction, sustainable economic development, and thus provide models for others to follow.

How SQA Benefits our Local Community

In addition to providing well-deserved recognition for businesses and non-profit organizations with noteworthy accomplishments, SQA also serves our community with healthier organizations, an expanded job base, as well as by preserving or helping to restore our natural environment.

An Ecological View

Ecologically conscious leaders make decisions based on the well-being of all stakeholders. Managing for multiple goals such as profit plus social and environmental care is an artform. The aim is progress, not perfection. The Elmwood Institute's guide to ecological auditing and sustainable business (EcoManagement, 1993), states that the challenge of the '90s is to "create sustainable societies in which business and government can satisfy our needs without diminishing the prospects for future generations."
